The vast majority of us at some stage in our lives will look for a quick way to lose weight. After a winter of comfort eating we are nearly all guilty of leaving it too late to slim down for the upcoming beach holiday. We don’t advocate binge-dieting here because of how unhealthy it is for your well-being, however there are some great little changes you can make to your daily routine that will drop those pounds in super fast time. Listed below are our top ten tips for a quick way to lose weight.
Quick way to Lose Weight – Drink Plenty of Water
To be specific, drink 2 litres of water a day. It doesn’t have to be mineral water either, if you live in a country where your tap water is safe to drink just fill up 2 litre bottles each evening and put them in your fridge at night ready for the next day. Drinking this amount of water a day will suppress your appetite, boost metabolism, increase concentration, aide digestion and make you feel happier. You’l also notice physical changes in your body such as younger-looking skin and a boost to your immune system.
Do 30 minutes minimum of Cardio each Day
If you really want to find a quick way to lose weight, you need to start moving! Cardiovascular exercise is the key to dropping pounds fast. Losing weight and dropping pounds is a very simple concept – all you have to do is burn more calories a day than you consume. In just 30 minutes it is easily achievable to burn off 500 calories with a H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) routine. If you are of a low level of fitness to start, take the dog for a brisk walk to burn off around 150 calories. A 30 minute cycle ride will burn around 300 calories and a run will be around 400 calories based on someone who weighs around 155 pounds. To lose 1LB of fat you will need to create a calorie deficit of 3500, so 500 calories a day burned will mean 1LB in 1 week – not that difficult really is it?
Purge your Comfort Food
Go into your pantry, cupboards, fridge and freezer and remove all your unhealthy snacks like crisps, ice cream, fizzy drinks and chocolate and throw them in the bin! Just one bar of Snickers has 250 calories inside, meaning if you have one bar a day with your lunch at work it will equate to 2-3 pounds of fat a month if you cut it out from your daily diet. Replace any snacks and treats with fresh fruit, nuts and vegetables and you will soon see the pounds fall off you.
Just how many times have you heard the phrase “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”? We hear it countless times during our time, however studies have shown less than half of us eat breakfast regularly. Eating breakfast daily will mean you will be a third less likely to be obese, half as likely to develop blood-sugar problems such as diabetes. Researches show that eating breakfast will stabilize blood-sugar evels, regulate appetite and energy levels and kickstart your metabolism. Wholegrain cereals or half a grapefruit are ideal meals for first thing in the morning.
Ditch the Car
Do you use the car for short journeys like a trip to the local store for some milk or loaf of bread? Consider walking instead or take a short ride on the bicycle. Take any opportunity you can to burn a few calories instead of taking the car. If you work in an office building, take the stairs instead of using the elevator to really maximize your calorie burning efforts.
Switch to Olive Oil
OK, so it’s not neccessarily a quick way to lose weight but using olive oil instead of butter or vegetable oil does have fantastic long-term health benefits. Switching to olive oil instead of using butter will reduce your “bad fat” intake. SUsing olive oil in your meals has many long-term benefits including lowering blood pressure whilst reducing the risk of diabetes and cancer.
Get Some Nuts
Have you got a snacking habit at work? If so, switch from crisps and chocolate to almonds or brazil nuts. Keep a tub handy on your desk and go nuts!
Use the Dining Room Table
Instead of eating your meals in front of the TV, make a consciuo effort to only eat meals at the dining table. This will help you schedule your meals in a constructive way whilst also help you to cut down on any snacking inbetween meals.
Cut Down on the Red Meat
If your main meals consist of red meat like beek or pork, replacing them with white meat like poultry or even better, fish will help you shed extra pounds each week. It may not be a quick way to lose weight but it will help a little if combined with all of our other tips along with keeping your heart healthy.
Don’t Starve Yourself
Whatever you do, don’t be fooled into thinking that starving yourself is a quick way to lose weight. Depriving yourself calories will only result in you putting more pounds back on when you eventually start eating your normal diet again and will increase the chance of you binge-eating when you finally snap.
